Ann Lyons is the Co-ordinator of EPIC - Engaging People in Communities. EPIC works in close liaison with a wide range of individuals and groups, both inside and outside the university, to further civic links and partnerships, with particular emphasis on Community-Engaged Research and knowledge sharing and exchange.
From 2008 until 2010 she was the co-ordinator of Campus Engage, a higher education civic engagement network, funded under the Higher Education Authority's (HEA) Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF), to develop and support civic engagement activities in higher education in Ireland. Ann is a member of the board of directors of the visual arts festival, Tulca, the Galway One World Centre's African Film Festival and Domestic Violence Response (DVR). She is also the joint co-ordinator of the recently established, locally-based action research network, ARGO (Action Research Go). She is joint editor of Higher Education and Civic Engagement: Comparative Perspectives, (2012), Palgrave Macmillan; joint author of Survey of Civic Engagement Activities in Higher Education Activities in Higher Education in Ireland, (2011), (Campus Engage) and joint editor of Mapping Civic Engagement within Higher Education in Ireland, (2009), (AISHE & Campus Engage).

Lorraine Tansey is the Student Volunteer Coordinator of the Community Knowledge Initiative. Lorraine has a Masters in Education from the University of British Columbia, Canada, with a speciality in the Internationalisation of Higher Education. Lorraine earned her BA in Legal Science and Sociological & Political Studies, and LLB from University of Galway. As the coordinator of University of Galway's student volunteering programme, ALIVE, Lorraine has developed a number of resources to support student volunteers.
Lorraine's current areas of interest include co-curricular and extracurricular learning, student engagement, critical global citizenship development and the role of third level institutions in active citizenship. Lorraine has and continues to sit on several Boards including: the Galway Volunteer Centre, Campus Engage, the Professional Association of Volunteer Managers Ireland, Volunteering Ireland, Confederation of Student Services Ireland, the Global Citizens Award and StudentVolunteer.ie as Convener.

Aidan graduated from University of Galway with an MA in Public Advocacy & Activism, and currently coordinates the University of Sanctuary (UoS) Initiative at the University. The UoS initiative has the objectives of promoting a culture of welcome and inclusiveness across Irish society for those seeking International Protection in Ireland, vulnerable immigrant groups, and the Irish Traveller community. Aidan represents the UoS on the Galway City Community Network (GCCN), and represents NUI Galway on the national UoS committee.
